Frequently asked questions about IHC

What is IHC?

IHC (Intelligent House Control) is a wired automation system from LK/Schneider Electric. It controls lighting, heating, ventilation and blinds in approximately 400,000 Danish homes via a central controller in the electrical panel.

Does BT Home replace my IHC controller?

No. BT Home builds on top of your existing IHC system. Your IHC controller runs as always — BT Home adds browser control, energy optimization and integration with modern devices.

Is IHC discontinued?

No. Schneider Electric still maintains IHC, and thousands of Danish homes use it daily. The system is in 'maintenance mode' — stable, but without new features.

What do IHC alternatives cost?

KNX retrofit: 50-150,000 DKK. Loxone: 40-120,000 DKK. Home Assistant DIY: 5-15,000 DKK. BT Home: 1,499 DKK. Only BT Home preserves your existing IHC system.

How long does setup take?

15 minutes. Place the hub, connect to your network, and it automatically finds your IHC controller and all connected devices.

Does it work with Home Assistant?

BT Home is a standalone solution that does not require Home Assistant. It uses Modbus TCP (faster than Home Assistant's SOAP/XML integration) with automatic device discovery.
